I have the right to inform Your Grace from time to time of the various changes which have necessarily occurred in the different Departments,
and I find but few call for special report.
3.
On the death of I. T. a Melice server in the Treasury Lam Department, I promoted Low Shir Pang to fill the post, and placed Ho Aye Shang at a salary of $239, having been engaged at an annual salary of $214, to $346, and then to $3239, Jas was $346. The increase to the staff of the Colonial Secretary's Office has been the subject of a previous despatch, and therein I notified Your Grace that, subject to approval, I had taken Mr P.C. Braga from the Mint, where his services were not required owing to the want of business, and employed him in the Secretary's Office. In June, however, The Master of the Mint found that he was unable to do without the aid of a Clerk, and as I could not spare Mr Braga, I selected Mr M. R. Battade from a number of applicants, and placed him on the temporary Staff of the Mint.
